Douglas Alvin Martin, 92, passed away April 8th, 2017 in Suquamish, WA. He was born September 16, 1924 at Swedish Hospital in Seattle. Doug was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army on November 7, 1945 where he was a private first class, and a scout sharpshooter with the 320 infantry. He fought in the battles at Normandy, Northern France, Arennes, Rhineland, and Central Europe. He received citations in Europe, Africa, and the Middle East, and received service medals for good conduct, and victory. Doug then went on to finish collage at the UW where he received a teaching degree. He then taught history and music at Rainer Beach High School from September 1955 until his retirement in June of 1974.
He is survived by his son Ralph, Daughter in Law Valerie, grandchildren Blake, Brenden, and Austin who passed away.
Visitation will be held at Evergreen Washelli Funeral home on April 15th, 2017 from 9:00am-2:00pm, with a graveside service to follow at 2:00pm.
