

Dudley W. JOHNSON, Jr. Passed away on April 24, 2009 in Port Angeles, WA at the age of 83. Dudley was born on January 13, 1926 in Portland, OR, the loving son of Dudley and Ethel Johnson. Dudley was passionate about books and ideas. He lived and loved life to its fullest. Throughout his days, Dudley remained curious about our world, and greatly enriched the lives of everyone he knew. He was a respected scholar and teacher who was loved, and will be dearly missed, by many. Dudley proudly served in the United States Navy in the Pacific theater during WWII from 1942 - 1946. A graduate of Pacific University, with a doctorate in economics from Northwestern University, Dudley taught at several universities and colleges and finally at the University of Washington for over 30 years until his retirement. Dudley is survived by his wife, Peggy, children Dudley Johnson, Derek Johnson, Christopher Marr and Jessica Marr and 7 grandchildren, Alan, Duncan, Susan, Cameron, Devon, Coleman and Sofia. Until recently, the facility served as a Veterans of Foreign Wars, which seems particularly fitting. It is a red brick building at the corner of Woodlawn Ave. NE and Maple Leaf Pl. NE, one block E. of Greenlake Way NE. Parking is fairly scarce, it is possible to find parking several blocks from the building. As the Great Hall was built in 1921, there is no lift etc. For those who have challenges with stairs, assistance will be available.
