She was born in Port Townsend, Washington on June 11, 1933. Initially residing in Quilcene on the Olympic Peninsula, her family relocated to Olympia, where Edna graduated from Olympia High School, Class of ’51.
She attended the University of Washington, and was President of the Wesley Club.
In the late-1950s, she worked as Office Manager for Scientific Supply & Equipment, Inc. in Seattle. She met her future husband and fellow UW alum, James Vik, in 1958. They married in 1960, and had a son in 1965.
Jim’s career took the family to Billings, Montana, then to Peoria, Illinois. In Peoria, Edna worked as a preschool teacher at St. Paul's Episcopal School.
The family returned to Seattle in the late 1970s, where Edna commenced a new career as an insurance agent for State Farm, eventually retiring from the Moore Insurance Agency.
In retirement, she was actively involved as a member of the Norwegian Ladies Chorus of Seattle, traveling and performing with them at various events on the West Coast and in Norway.
