Edward Madison Williams (affectionately called Uncle Bubba by his family) was born May 25, 1938, in LeCompte, Louisiana, the oldest son of Woodrow Wilson Williams and Eloise C. Williams. In 1946, Eddie moved with his parents and siblings to Seattle, Washington where he remained until 1955 when, at the age of 17, Eddie returned home to Louisiana, where he lived with his Aunt Liza. Eddie's love of water and boats was so great that, in 1956, he made the decision to enlist in the United States Navy. His naval journey lasted four years, and he was honorable discharged in 1960.
After leaving the Navy, Eddie decided to rejoin his family in Seattle. With his love for boats still very strong, Eddie joined the Merchant Seamen in December of 1968. In the early 1980's, Eddie began his building maintenance business, which he ran for 23 years before retiring in 2006. After his retirement, Eddie was able to spend more time doing the things he loved such as watching sports, fishing for Croppies on Moses Lake, and most of all spending time with his family, especially the children - he was everyone's Uncle Bubba.
Eddie passed away on July 27, 2009 after losing his battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by both of his parents, as well as his siblings Wilma Richardson and Wilson Williams, his daughters Wilma Faye Williams and Verna Dean Henderson and his grandson Vendal Henderson. He is survived by and leaves cherished memories with his loving sisters, Verna Jean, Eloise and Henrietta, his son, Eddie Jr., his grandchildren; Vern, Marcella, Sean, Octavia, and Myeisha, 8 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews in Seattle, as well as family members in Louisiana and Texas.
