Eileen’s life was one that spanned two continents and touched the lives of many people. She was a devoted wife to David for over 60 years and mother to their three boys Derek, Daniel, and Sean. She enjoyed traveling and visited many different countries around the world.
David and Eileen met while she was a passenger and he was working as a steward on the RMS Orcades. They spent a couple of weeks getting to know each other and went on their first date at the Panama Canal before Eileen disembarked in Long Beach, California. After finishing his service, David reconnected with Eileen in California and together moved to Seattle where Eileen’s brother Michael had settled. The couple were married and stayed to start their family. As a devout Irish Catholic, Eileen attended Our Lady of the Lake Church and sent her boys to the parish school. There, she volunteered with the hot lunch program and chaperoned many school functions. She was the ultimate soccer mom, driving her sons to most of their soccer practices, cutting up oranges for half-time snacks, and attending all of their games. As the boys got older, David and Eileen frequently travelled back to England to visit family taking the boys with them. After many camping adventures and family vacations in Eastern Washington, they eventually purchased a house in Chelan where they spent many memorable trips at the lake. After David retired, they were able to take up world travel again, going to Hong Kong, China, Ireland, Scotland, England and Mexico. As each of the boys were married and began their families, she added the role of Nana to five grandchildren. Katerina, Nathaniel, Colin, Bryana, and Kiera brought much joy and happiness to her later years.
She will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate to call her a friend, wife, mum or Nana.

“May the Irish hills caress you.
May her lakes and rivers bless you.
May the luck of the Irish enfold you.
May the blessings of Saint Patrick behold you.”
