

Elaine was born in Seattle on March 19, 1920 and passed away at her home of 70 years in the Greenwood area of Seattle on Sunday November 12th, 2017. Elaine graduated from Queen Anne High School in 1938 and attended the University of Washington for two years.
She met Richard Kirsten, a handsome Navy man, and they were married in 1940 eloping to Bremerton, WA. They had two sons Rick & Nick bom in 1942 and 1945. After living in Chicago during WWII they returned to Seattle and bought a home.
Elaine worked for many years at Pacific NW Bell and U.S. West in accounting and management and was a Union Steward. After retirement Elaine ran for State Representative and was active in the community. She worked with the City of Seattle to get a pedestrian overpass built over Aurora Avenue for the students of Oak Lake Elementary School and that overpass still stands today. She travelled to Europe and Asia and visited the Panama Canal. Went to Hawaii, Las Vegas and Reno multiple times and travelled the East Coast.
The love of her life was the "beach" a family compound at Warm Beach on Port Susan Bay. Purchased in 1948 with her two sisters and brother this is where she was most happy. Wonderful summers spent water skiing, running her tractor in the huge garden, golfing and going to Saturday night dances with her sisters in Mt. Vernon.
Elaine was predeceased by her parents Agnes Christina Christopherson, James Doliver Hatton, her beloved sister Elizabeth, her two brother in-laws Virgil & Orlo and her husband Richard Kirsten-Daiensai (2013).
She is survived by her sons Rick (Kay) and Nick (Krystal), sister Dorothy Rupert, brother James D. Hatton, Jr. (Marcella), grandchildren Chris (Lori), Dorje (Reagan) and Dylan. Six great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, great- nieces & nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.
Nobody worked harder than Elaine and her sons feel blessed to have inherited her work ethic and to have had her caring love and devotion.
