

Elbert Laymance, Jr., son of Elbert Laymance, Sr. and Mildred Laymance, was born on August 20, 1945, in Los Angeles, California, and went to be with his wife, Dorothy Laymance, on January 2, 2024. Elbert lost his parents at a young age and went into the Marines as soon as he could. He served three tours in Vietnam, went from private to warrant officer and finally to captain, and made the Marines his career for almost 21 years. He then went on to technical writing in the engineering department at Boeing. He retired from Boeing after 20 years.
During his early years in the military, Elbert met his former wife Eileen Gannaway. This union was blessed with three children. While raising his three children and working at Boeing he met his love, Dorothy. She brought three more daughters into his life who he loved as his own.
Elbert is survived by his brothers Ernie (Sharon) Laymance of Georgia and Bruce (Linda) Laymance of Texas, his sister Patricia Scrattish of Washington, his children Jennifer Kraft and partner Dan of Kirkland, Washington, Anna (Lee) of Norfolk, Virginia, Russell (Christina) Laymance of Everett, Washington, Abby (Vic) Lam of Edmonds, Washington, Kathy (Terry) McCorkle of Renton, Washington, Bonnie Putnam of Renton, Washington. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, Alissa, Ryan, Laurel, Gabriel, Amelia, Kirsten, Sonja, Molly, Matthew, Mindy, Mason, Marcus, Kaylee, and Kevin.
There will be a viewing held at Washelli, 11111 Aurora Ave. N. Seattle, WA 98133 on Saturday, January 13 at noon, followed by a graveside service at Abbey View Cemetery located at 3601 Alaska Road Brier, Brier, Washington 98036 at 2 p.m. There will be a memorial following the burial at 3:30 p.m. at Mays Pond LDS Chapel, 16124 35th Avenue SE, Mill Creek, Washington 98012.
