Elizabeth Heintz

Bettie was born in Ordway, South Dakota on January 16, 1929. She passed away on August 2, 2013 in Burien, Washington. She graduated from the 8th grade and went on to attend Beauty School. She married Albert John “Jay” Heintz on June 29th 1949. Bettie worked as a Beautician for Vanity Hair Salon. She was a member of the Eagles and had a passion for gardening and taking care of her family.

She was a wonderful wife and devoted mother. Her devotion especially shined through when her daughter “Shelly” ended up in a tragic car accident. She and dad (Albert) decided to raise Shelly at home instead of placing Shelly in an institution. It was difficult for them at times and it took a tremendous amount of sacrifice away from their own lives and family. When they could no longer care for Shelly, she made the sad and heart wrenching decision of placing her in a nursing home. There was never a day that they did not go to visit Shelly. Mom eventually ended up at the same nursing home as her!

For those that knew her she was full of spirit. She was not afraid to let you know how she felt. It did not matter whether you agreed or disagreed with her. Sometimes she could be a little too outspoken, but that was the way she was and it was a sure signal of where you stood with her. She was always there to lend a hand if needed. She had a soft heart, especially for her relatives and was always there to help them out.

With her busy schedule she always had time to clean the house, cook meals from scratch (well most of the time), garden, and take such wonderful care of Shelly.

Gregory, Daughter-in-law (Mark’s wife) Chris Heintz Sister & brother in-law; Kathleen Mack & Marley MackNieces & Nephews: Paul & Chris Axtman, Alan & Diane Heupel.
