EMMANUEL ALMEDA PAMINTUAN, JR., fondly called as Manny, was born in Manila, Philippines on July 11, 1960 by forcep delivery 8lbs 6oz. Manny was the 2nd of the 6 children of both the late Dr. Emmanuel G. Pamintuan & Dra. Rosita Almeda Pamintuan. He grew up with his parents and siblings at Damar Village, QC.
Manny’s elementary and high school years were at Lourdes School Quezon City (LSQC); first year college Industrial Engineering course was at the University of Santo Tomas and his second year at Adamson University. Deep and long-lasting friendships with LSQC ’78 were one of his treasures and happy memories.
At the age of 16, Manny started working; helping collect payments in the market for his grandfather’s shop, the Almeda Cottage Industry in Manila. It is from Almeda shop that Manny learned a lot of skills like fabricating metalworks for the ice crushers, coconut graters, bibingka & waffle makers, etc. that his late grandfather, Benjamin Almeda, Sr. invented. Thus, he became the family’s handyman even with plumbing, electrical and car mechanics. His industry, diligence and all his collection of different tools of the best imported brands proved that his work became his passion!
Both as young adults, Manny was married to Maria Liza Puertollano-Pamintuan in March 1980. Together they raised four boys - Paul, Marvin, and the twins – Anthony and Mark. While at Almeda, Manny’s dedication to work provided for his family until they all moved to the States in 2000 from his wife’s family petition.
He lived with his family in Mountlake Terrace for 25 years, worked at one of his uncle’s (Tito Benny) shop in Olympia, WA, then at Overlake Hospital as assistant to a Physical Therapist with the help of another uncle (Tito Ome). He worked there for 10 years until he was diagnosed with Dementia/Alzheimer’s in 2015. Manny battled the disease for almost 11 years; frontotemporal dementia was the final diagnosis. He deteriorated fast these last 2 months due to aspiration pneumonia, urinary tract infection & dehydration; coupled with the disease’s progression. He had difficulty swallowing and was later placed on Hospice care.
Manny was a good husband and father; a disciplinarian parent yet funny and loving to all the people who was close to him. The NeoCatechumenal way in the Philippines, Bukas loob sa Diyos in WA, and his wife and children together shaped and deepened his close relationship with God. In-between his uncontrollable emotions and behavior, he knew he may have hurt his loved ones. In tears and prayer, he would ask for forgiveness, make several Signs of the Cross, and entrust himself to God. And so, in peace, His Creator took him in His loving embrace on June 11, 2026. Thank You So Much, Manny / Daddy, for the gift of your life and your love…‘til we meet again.
