

Erika Zinaida Stauvers was born on March 15th 1927 outside of Riga Latvia. She passed away peacefully on July 31st 2025 at Covenant Shores on Mercer Island, Wa.
At 16 years of age Erika was displaced by the war and spent 7 years in a German Labor camp where she met and married Andrejs Stauvers.
Their first child Baiba was born in the camp and in 1949 the entire Stauvers family was placed to live and work at a sugar beet farm in the prairies of Manitoba where their second child was born. Within 5 years the family bought their first home in Winnipeg, Manitoba where they raised their family.
In 1967 the family moved to Seattle and Erika and Andy settled into their dream home on Mercer Island, Erika was a strong and stubborn hard working, resilient woman who did not beat around the bush.
She loved to read and learn and could speak 5 languages. She returned to school at the age of 50 to get her G,E,D and a degree in Associate Arts.
Erika was predeceased in 2000 by her daughter Baiba and in 2018 by Andy, her husband of 71 years. She is survived by her daughter Rita Dufresne, grandsons Sasha and Justin Dufresne and great grandson Alexander Dufresne.
