Mom was raised by her grandmother Ezilda May Mattox, in Seattle, Washington and married our dad in 1939. Our family home was a place of joy, and we were blessed to have Little Grandma (mom's grandmother) come and live with us for several years. One of our favorite stories told by our uncle Lloyd was when mom was first married, she made Spanish Rice for dinner, and did not precook the rice. Mom became a great cook, as well as a gardener, seamstress and a loving parent. She very much enjoyed reading, and would often read aloud to us as children by kerosene lamp at our cabin on Lake Cavanaugh.
Mom loved life, and was always upbeat, and enjoyed being with family. Mom loved playing cards until Alzheimer's left her unable to function on her own. Remembering mom would not be complete without mentioning, she loved ice cream.

Seven grandchildren, Heatherjo Burgy, Edward Lanfear and his wife Laura, Holly Swanston and her husband Andrew, Marcie Rice, and her husband Darrell, Chandra Zink, Sara Anderson and her husband, David, Lotus Hedin and her husband Shawn.
