Fran was born April 17, 1928 in Flint, MI, to Joseph James Guidos and Anna Suhay Guidos. He was the oldest of three children and enjoyed a happy childhood. He was a typical boy enjoying sports, music, and scouting. At age 18, he joined the Coast Guard where he was enlisted for 8 years, ultimately achieving the office of Electronic Technical Chief. While stationed in Ketchikan Alaska, he met his wife Marion Dale and later moved to Seattle where they raised 3 children. When residing in Seattle, he worked several jobs while attending the University of Washington where he earned a BA in Broadcasting in 1958. He started his broadcasting career at KCTS TV13 in Tacoma and moved to KIRO TV7 in Seattle as a camera man and became a full time producer/director for KING TV5 in 1967. Fran wasn't a boastful man, but if asked about his TV career he might mention filming the Beatles in 1962, working with Ed Hume, his work with the the Seafair hydro races, the Galloping Gourmet with Graham Kerr, or directing the J.P Patches show. He retired from KING TV5 in 1993.
Throughout his life Fran enjoyed many hobbies. A few of which included gardening, bowling, raising birds, working in his shop and corresponding with friends and family through email.
Later in life, Fran enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren often with tools in hand. He was a terrific handyman. He also looked forward to visits with his many friends and neighbors.
You could always count on Fran for a friendly smile and a kind word. We will miss him.
