Gladys Marie Berger, 98, of Lynnwood, WA, peacefully passed away on Saturday, May 20, 2017. She was born October 22, 1918 in Seattle, the daughter of John and Marie McEachern and a graduate of Ballard High School. Gladys was married for over 58 years to Erling Berger who preceded her in death. She enjoyed her family and friends, knitting, reading, and following her Huskies and Seahawks on TV. Gladys enjoyed a lifelong love of Puget Sound after being raised on Ballard Beach across the street from the original Ray's Boathouse. She fondly shared stories of the good times she spent in Ballard and how she and Erl spent many years raising their kids, dancing with friends and enjoying a rich social life. Once Erl retired, they spent more happy years enjoying their grandchildren on Whidbey Island, in a home they designed and built. Gardening, entertaining, and enjoying life on the island as well as exploring the USA by motorhome were highlights of their lives together. Gladys is survived by her son Don Berger and wife Char; grandchildren: Kevin Berger (Kristi), Kristin Johnson, Jennifer Cromer (Mike), Jackie Jenkins Moore (Scott), Zack Marsh (Julie), Erin Marsh, and Kimberly Eickerman (David) plus double digit great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Judi Jenkins and three brothers, Hank, Don, and Babe.
Private arrangements will be by the family and by Lifetime Celebrations by Washelli.
