Age 93. GG went to be with our Lord on Nov. 4, 2001. She passed peacefully in her sleep at her granddaughter?s home in Edmonds, where she lived for the last 1? years. She was preceded in death by her husband John and granddaughter Jill Smirz. Gladys was born in Peterson, Iowa on Nov.12, 1907 to Harry and Josie Redman. She graduated as an R.N. from Sioux Valley Hospital in 1930. She moved to Seattle, WA along with her three young daughters and worked at Harborview Hospital. She continued to practice nursing until she retired in 1975. GG was passionate about so many things. She was an incredible baker. We all looked forward to dinners at Grama and Gramps? house, and her wonderful pies. She loved to garden. Her yard and deck were always full of beautiful blooming flowers. She loved to travel, and especially loved the beauty of Hawaii. After she retired, she began to paint, and enjoyed that until just a few years ago. GG was a wonderful mother and grandma. She always went out of her way for all of us, whether it was to make us our favorite pie, get us that special ''thing'' we wanted, or just listen to us when we needed to talk. She was always there for us, no matter what else was going on in her life. We will miss her so. She has been a blessing to all of us. Gladys is survived by her daughters: Peggy Potter, Patty Broandt Jerry, Carolyn Schenk Bob; grandchildren: Scott and John Redford, Lili Gay, Jeff and Patricia Jurich and Katherine Gonzalez; numerous great and great-great grandchildren; and brothers Lloyd and Clare Redman of Iowa. Special thanks to her loving caregivers Lucy and Kristina for their devotion, love and support. You helped make it possible for GG to stay at home with us and we will be forever grateful. A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 9 at 3:00 at Maple Park Lutheran Brethren Church 17620-60th Ave. West, Lynnwood. Memorials may be made to a charity of your choice.
