
Gladys Dickerson Nelson passed away peacefully April 11, 2002 at her home. Gladys Dickerson was born in New York, NY on September 13, 1918. She moved to Seattle in 1921 and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1936. Shortly after graduating, she began working at John Marshall Jr. High School as a secretary. Later, she worked as a secretary/bookkeeper at Northern Radio and then as a clerk at the US Post Office, from which she retired in 1983. She married Ernest Lawrence Nelson in 1942. Gladys was a member of the Women of the Moose, Eagles, and the 1918 Club. She enjoyed dancing, traveling, socializing with her relatives and many friends, and playing cards, particularly pinochle and poker. She liked to keep informed on current event and issues, routinely reading the daily newspaper. She was very generous, giving to many charities, and never hesitated to help someone in need. She is greatly missed by all those who knew her and will be remembered as having a heart of gold. Gladys was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest, in 1959. She is survived by her three sons, Michael Elaine, Robert Judy and Jon Anne; three granddaughters, Michelle, Lisa and Melissa and one great-granddaughter, Emily.
