Sarah Grace Faye Edmark, 99, passed away on September 25, 2020, in Kirkland, Washington. She was born June 30, 1921 in Surrey, North Dakota, but has been a resident of the Seattle area for close to 70 years.
Grace, known as Gracie or “Amazing Grace” to many, moved to the Seattle area with her husband Myrl, 3-year-old daughter Judy and baby son Roger in 1951. After a few years in South Seattle, they moved to the Greenlake/Phinney Ridge neighborhood of Seattle. Gracie was a devoted wife and mother, also serving as PTA President and Girl Scout Group leader. She worked as a clerk at the Fremont Library in Seattle, and was eventually asked to run the whole library. After retiring from the library, she started to do volunteer work at Northaven. All this time she was active in her church, Olympic View Community church, as a women’s guild member, children’s choir director, reception coordinator for weddings and memorial services and many other activities. She enjoyed traveling with friends, playing bridge and spending time with her family.
Gracie was preceded in death by her husband Myrl, of 29 years. She is survived by daughter Judith Tsoukalas and son-in-law Bill of Arlington, WA and their family; grandchildren John and Michael; and great grandchildren Katherine, Michael, Andrew, and Thomas. She is also survived by son Roger Edmark and daughter-in-law Kathleen, and their family; grandchildren Melissa, Aimee, Joseph, and Brynn Esterra; great grandchildren, Victoria, Jason, Angela, Josiah, Ahnna, Josh, Sam, Amber, Ryan and Brittani; and great great grandchildren Lucy, Devlin and Liam.
A private Funeral service will be held at Evergreen-Washelli Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 6, 2020.
Memorials may be made in Grace’s name to Olympic View Community Church, or to Northaven Senior Living Retirement Home.
