Some of my best memories of bestemor were the times I spent with her in Norway. I remember walking through town and we’d randomly encounter people she’d grown up with. She lit up when talking with them, but she’d get so excited that she’d talk to them in English and then turn to talk to me in Norwegian which was confusing to everyone! I think going home was somewhat bitter-sweet for her sometimes though. She loved to look at her fathers old paintings in the house and studio, and she sometimes told me stories from her childhood during German occupation or showed me photos of family.  I wish I knew more abiut her early life. 
When I first started going back with her sometimes she would spend time painting, but in later years she enjoyed sitting and visiting with others more. She always loved seeing her sisters and other extended family who always greeted her with joy, warmth, and love.  Bestemor was one of the kindest people I’ve ever known, and she will be missed by many. 

I remember a summer morning camping at Lake Chelan and our Mom's, Gudrun and Gulldis stood at the hot camping stove and made Norwegian pannekakes for hours!! My brother John and I think your brother Ken came into the state park on their motorcycles with a large group of other motorcycle buddies. Everone in the park was in awe of it all. But, Gulldis and Gudrun were fully in charge and loving every minute of it...... feeding their families and their friends! It was their passion.
 May memories like this one bring joy to you as you celebrate the life of you mom.🌷🇳🇴🇺🇸🌷

Mom was a gentle soul.  She showed love and kindness to everyone and of course food. I miss you mom.
