He was born on October 14,1923 in Bluffton Ohio to Louis and Naomi. His mother passed away when he was three years old, and he was raised by his Grandparents on their farm in Bluffton along with his sister, Alice, and his cousin, Charlotte. He attended Bluffton High School and was a standout football player during his years there.
He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII as a gunner in PBY patrol aircraft during the Aleutian Island campaign. He worked twenty nine years for Pacific Northwest Bell as a Yellow Page ad salesman and retired in 1984.
Some of the things he loved to do throughout his life included playing golf, fishing, playing pool, square dancing, mowing lawns, watching football, drinking beer, watching television (especially westerns!) and tinkering around the house.
Most of all, he loved his family. He is survived by his two daughters, Linda and Shelley, sons-in-law, Skip and Greg, grandsons, Daniel, Andrew, Christopher, Nicholas and Matthew, granddaughter-in-law Amanda, brothers and sisters-in-law Jim, Darlene, Bob and Hazel, as well as numerous nephews and nieces. He will be dearly missed by everyone and will be forever in our hearts.
There will be a memorial service on Saturday, November 17th, at noon, at Mt. Pleasant cemetery on Queen Anne followed by a private reception at Anthony's Restaurant on Shilshole.
