
Harris was born in Chicago October 30, 1942 and died in Seattle July 11, 2012. Raised in Los Angeles, he attended Fairfax High School and graduated from San Jose State University in 1963 with a degree in Accounting and Finance. He was predeceased by his parents Benjamin and Bessie Dubrow and a brother Alvin. Harris married his wife, Patricia, in 1965. He leaves behind his wife, two children Debbie and Daniel, their spouses Peyman Oreizy and Robyn Dubrow and six grandchildren who adored him Trinity, Abigail, Everest, Darya, Eilan and Scarlett. Harris spent his 35 year long career as a CPA. In his early career he worked as a controller for Del Monte Properties and Quail Lodge. He moved to San Mateo in 1977 where he worked for California Innkeepers and Super 8 Lodges.
Service was an important and ongoing part of his life. He volunteered at the Carmel Valley Fire Department, Clint Eastwood Celebrity Tennis Tournament, Bing Crosby Pro-am Golf Tournament and Second Harvest. He put his CPA skills to work by assisting low-income people with their income tax through Tax-Aid. After his retirement, he served on the San Mateo Civil Grand Jury for 2 years and was Chair of the County Assessment Appeals Board for 8 years. In July, a proclamation recognizing his service to the County was presented by the Board of Supervisors.
Harris loved to travel, and enjoyed exploring new places with his wife, children, and grandchildren. He visited countries in Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and Australia and was eager to bring the sights, sounds and tastes he had encountered back home to San Mateo. Harris had a lifelong love for learning that he applied to everything he did and took great joy in reading to himself, with his children and to his grandchildren. He wanted to share his knowledge with others. He taught managerial accounting at the Naval Post Graduate School, The Monterey Institute of International Studies and Skyline College
