Helen Katherine Lozier

Helen K. Lozier passed away February 18, 2009 in Mt. Vernon, Washington at the age of 92. Helen was born in Oakesdale, Washington to Lonny Lawrence Ellis and Ethel Richardson Ellis. She grew up in a wheat-farming family with three brothers,graduated from Oakesdale High School and Kinman Business College in Spokane where she met her husband of 63 years Raymond S. Lozier from Joseph, Oregon.Helen and Ray lived in Avery, Idaho and Spokane before moving to Seattle in 1942. They owned and operated grocery stores and real estate in Seattle's Wedgwood, East Green and Lake City. Helen was active in Wedgwood Chamber and Green Lake Merchants.

Helen celebrated 38 years as an insurance agent with Guarantee Mutual Life Company, 1957 to 1995. She co-owned Adams Insurance Agency in Wedgwood with Elmer Jensen and received many honors and awards including 14 National Quality awards, Outstanding Achievement Awards, Women's Leadership Round Table, and Charter Member Women Life Underwriters.

Ray and Helen enjoyed their home and Green Lake neighborhood for over 60 years and were active in their children's schools and youth groups, boating, Queen City Yacht Club, Arizona winters, Husky Football, Mariners, their Whidbey place, family and friends. Helen retired to Mt. Vernon in 2004 and will be missed by all.

Helen is survived by her Daughter Glenda (Jim) Hobbs, Sr of Mt. Vernon, Daughter-in-law Michelle Lozier of Sedro Woolley; three Grandchildren: Kimberly (Pat) McSorley, Kristl (Don) Torset, and Jim (Hilary) Hobbs, Jr. of Sedro Woolley and six Great grandchildren: Spencer Byfield and Shannon McSorley, Hunter and Ellary Torset, and Hadley and Hudson Hobbs, Sisters-in-law Jeanne and Lila Ellis and extended Ellis family.

Helen was preceded in death by her Husband Raymond; her Son, Russell Lozier; three Brothers Lee, Harold, and Roy Ellis and Sister-in law Gladys Ellis.

Services are Saturday, February 28, 2009. 12 pm. at Evergreen Washelli Chapel, 11111 Aurora Avenue North, Seattle. Memorial donations in Helen's name may be sent to Meals on Wheels, Mt.
