Helen Payne

Born February 18, 1921 in Indianola Iowa; passed away October 29, 2008 in Seattle, WA, at the age 87.

Preceded in death by her husband Donald, she is survived by son, Michael and daughter-in-law, Anne Payne of Seattle WA; daughter, Sandra and son-in-law, Perry LaCelle of Poulsbo WA; granddaughters, Amy, Lauren, Kayleigh, Hannah, Hallie and great grandson Jamison; who will all miss her jokes, stories and her loving support.

Helen moved to Sitka AK in her youth. Helen supported our troops during WWII by singing on Armed Forces Radio. Helen eventually moved to Ketchikan AK where she met her husband Donald and they married in 1953. Together in 1958 Helen and Donald moved to Seattle to raise their family. Helen resided in Kitsap County from 2002-2007 to be near her grand children before returning to Seattle. Helen was an avid reader, active in the Girl Scouts, enjoyed crafts of all kinds including miniatures, making ornaments and particularly liked teaching kids how to be creative.

A Memorial Service will be held Monday November 10th, at 10:00AM; Evergreen-Washelli Chapel 11111 Aurora Ave N. Seattle. The family requests that any remembrances be made to Children's Hospital or a charity of choice in Helen's name. Please sign an on-line memorial at washelli.com
