Hiroko passed away May 20, 2015, at Seattle Keiro at the age of 90, where she lived for the remaining 8 years of her life. Born in Tokyo, Japan, where she met and married her husband, U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Takashi Akiyama. They moved to Seattle and were married for 64 years. Hiroko is survived by her beloved husband, Tak of Seattle, siblings Yoshirou, Mitsue and Masae of Tokyo, daughters Louise (David) Wright of Ellensburg and Nancy (George) Fujimoto of Seattle; daughter-in-law, Maralyn Akiyama of Maple Valley; grandchildren Jonathan, Blair, Shaina, Paul and Bradley; great grandchildren Leif, Hiromi, Erika, Ione, and Beckett. Hiroko was preceded in death by her son, Jesse Akiyama; sisters Kazuko and Shigeko, and brother Yutaka of Tokyo. The family is very grateful to Seattle Keiro for making every day the best day for Hiroko.
