

Mrs. Idalia (Ida) Eugenia Vigliotta Durant died peacefully on April 27, 2015 in Seattle, Washington at the age of 92. She had recently moved to Seattle from Newbury Park, CA. Ida was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard David (Bernie) Durant, her parents Gennaro (Jerry) & Mary Cristello of Lynn, MA; brothers Gennaro (Jerry), Pasquale (Pat) & Robert Vigliotta; sisters Mary, Lena & Evelyn all of New England.
Ida is survived by her son, Bernard William (Bernie) Durant (Sue) of Seattle, WA; four grandchildren, Nathanael (Ann), Philip & Joel (Ashley) all of Seattle, WA, and Maia of Pasadena CA.; six great grandchildren, Indiana, Isa, Collette, Jacob, Solomon & Llewelyn; and three sisters, Jean O’Brien of Lynn, MA, Ann Rappa of Lynn, MA & Rita Rappa of Revere, MA.
Ida was born on December 26, 1922 in Lynn, MA, the third of ten children, to Gennaro and Mary Vigliotta. As a young woman Ida was employed in a wallet factory in Lynn where she met her future husband and the love of her life, Bernie Durant. They married in Lynn, where they both worked tirelessly to build a future and eventually a new home designed and built by Bernie. In March,1947, the couple welcomed their only child, Bernie into their home. In 1961 the family followed their dream and moved to the Los Angeles area, where they remained.
Ida was a generous woman who loved her family and who was passionate about cooking. Her greatest joy was to bring family and friends around a table to serve her favorite Italian dishes. She was a dedicated member of St. Julie Billiart Catholic Church in Newbury Park, CA.
A memorial gathering is scheduled for 12:00pm – 2:00pm, Thursday, May 7, 2015 at Bleitz Funeral Home 316 Florentia St., Seattle, WA 98109. Viewing will be from 12:00pm – 1:00pm with a service to follow. All are invited to celebrate Ida’s life. Remembrances, in lieu of flowers, may be made to the ministries of St. Julie Billiart Catholic Church at 2475 Borchard Rd, Newbury Park, CA. 91320.
