

Janet Lucille Caudill Banks passed away on March 16th, 2025, in Kirkland, Washington, having been born the second of three children to Sylvan and Lucille Caudill on June 16th, 1938, in Spokane, Washington, and having been a resident in the Seattle area for over 50 years. Janet was a beloved elementary school teacher in Edmonds, Washington for nearly all of her 30-year career, and upon retirement she travelled the world instructing other educators in the multi-age education approach in which she specialized. She and husband Al founded and together ran Cats Publications, self-publishing books, games, and illustrations used in numerous multi-age elementary school programs around the world.
Janet was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years Leonard (Al) Banks, whom she met in high school when they were seated together on an alphabetical seat chart and he asked her for help with an assignment. She is survived by her children Greg Banks and his wife Darlene and Brenda Banks and her husband Joel Larmore, and by grandchildren Amy and Brian, sister Patricia Noe, brother Barry Caudill, and great grandchildren Finley and Elliott Newell, as well as by nieces and nephews including Kathy, Patty, Tim, Cheryl, Teresa, Jeff, Kendra, Brad, and Kirk, and cousins including Karen, Diane, and Betty.
A memorial service will be held at the Evergreen-Washelli Funeral Home in Seattle on June 21st at 3pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children. Arrangements made under the direction of the Evergreen-Washelli Funeral Home.
