Loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed from this life to her eternal home and into the loving arms of her Lord the evening of August 9th. In her final days, her loving family surrounded her.
She was born in St Paul, Minnesota as Janet Mae Boe on May 24, 1919 and was raised in International Falls, Minnesota leaving for San Diego, California in 1942 where she met and married Charles Edward Furstenwerth in 1943. She brought 4 children into this world, John Carl, Robert Edward, James Whitney and Cathy JoAnn filling their lives with the fullness of her love and devotion. The family traveled extensively until 1954 when they settled in Shoreline, WA. Here she raised the children bringing them up with her strong love of the Lord as a member in Bethel Lutheran Church while Ed worked on and off in Alaska.
After a divorce in 1960, she went on to work at a nursing home, infant specialty store and finally at the UW Central Services where she retired in 1985, but continued working on a on-call basis until 1990 when she completely enjoyed her retirement years. She met the love of her life in Don Morton in 1974 settling into their home in Edmonds, where they traveled and enjoyed family and many close friends.
She also enjoyed her membership in the Elks Emblem Club and in later years established an active membership at the Church of Christ in Woodinville. Her life was always about family and friends. She would go out of her way to make everyone she encountered feel welcomed, valued and loved by her spirit of generosity.
Her parents Carl and Johanna Boe, her brother Albert Boe, her husband Don Morton and her 2nd child Robert Edward Furstenwerth in Vietnam preceded her in death. She is survived by her children John (Sharon) Furstenwerth, Jim (Marydeane) Furstenwerth and Cathy Palino as well as her 7 grandchildren: Chad, Angie, Frankie, Tiffany, Carl, Marty and Christina. There are also 11 great grandchildren with two arrivals this fall that will never know the love of their great-grandmother except though others fond memories.
Her final arrangements are being cared for by Evergreen Washelli with graveside services scheduled for 11 am on Thursday, August 13th. A celebration of her life will be held at a later time. The family respectively requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Alzheimer Foundation. www.alzfdn.org
