Janet Carolyn Thompson

Janet Thompson, 81, passed away peacefully on January 22, 2018 surrounded by her family after a two-year battle with cancer. She was a loving wife, a caring mother and grandmother, devoted nurse, and a faithful friend.

Janet, pronounced "Janette", was born at home in Malmo, Minnesota on March 14, 1936. The family lived on a sheep farm in Isle, Minnesota where she attended a one-room schoolhouse. They eventually moved west to Edmonds, Washington, and she graduated from Edmonds High School. She attended Tacoma General School of Nursing and enjoyed a long career as a registered nurse, practicing as a medical nurse, nurse manager, and nursing care coordinator.

Janet married Ron, her high school sweet heart, in 1958, and they moved to California where they raised their family in Manhattan Beach and Berkeley. As a pastor's wife with a strong faith, she was actively involved in First Presbyterian Church of Berkeley where she served as a deacon and elder and developed life-long friends. In retirement, they moved to Seattle where she helped care for her grandchildren, traveled extensively, walked her dogs, enjoyed a book club, and created beautiful quilts.

Janet was known as a life-long caregiver and one who was lovingly devoted to her family. She was happiest when spending time with her extended family--whether at home or traveling together-- and close friends who loved her dearly.

She is survived by her husband of almost 60 years, Ronald Thompson, their children Susan Thompson Geiduschek (Jeremy) and Eric Thompson (Stacey), three grandchildren Max Geiduschek, Emma Geiduschek, and CaitlinGrace Thompson, and two sisters, Charlotte Williamson and Luella Kobelt.

There will be a memorial service to celebrate her life on February 22, 2018 at her place of worship the University Presbyterian Church, 4540- 15th Ave NE, Seattle, WA, 98105, at 1 PM.
