Jean Christiansen Bartholmey

Jean passed away February 11, 2014 in Bellevue at the age of 85. She was born on December 9, 1928 in Yakima, WA, the daughter of Carl and Nora Christiansen. She married Don S. Bartholmey "Bart" on February 17, 1952 in Pascagoula, Mississippi. Jean was a proud military wife and often spoke of all the great experiences and lifelong friendships that they cherished through the years. They had four children, Jana, Lynn, Anne Marie and Brett and enjoyed 60 years of marriage before his passing in 2012.

While raising her children she spent many years working at Fredrick and Nelson. Later she became a travel agent and loved her job, although not for the money but for the fun of planning trips for her friends and clients. Her family often laughed about how much money it "cost" her to work as she would always send gift baskets, wine and other items to make sure they had the best experience.

Jean loved skiing, playing tennis, gardening and entertaining but she especially loved traveling the world with Bart, as they shared countless adventures.

After her husband retired they moved to Hood Canal and spent their final years together where they shared many wonderful times with family and friends.

Jean is survived by her daughters Jana Zaffarano and Lynn O'Day and her son Brett Bartholmey. She had seven grandchildren and one great- grandchild. She is preceded in death by her daughter Annie Marie Johnson.
