It is with great sadness that we share the passing of loving husband, father, brother and uncle Jerry Chan, who left us on September 9, 2024, at the age of 88. He was a man with a playful humor and a sparkle in his eyes.
Born in Taishan, China, Jerry immigrated to the United States in 1951 and eventually made a home in Seattle, Washington. Here he raised his kids and lived in the same Seward Park house for almost 50 years.
When Jerry first arrived in the States he found work in restaurants: bussing tables and washing dishes. From there he found a love of cooking and spent the rest of his career making delicious food at various restaurants, including Top Spot and Red Lotus, as well as at home for his family.
He met his wife, Beverly, through mutual friends in China. After a short courtship, they married in Hong Kong in 1962 and settled down in Seattle. In 2022, Jerry & Beverly celebrated 60 years of marriage.
Jerry loved watching sports, especially his Seattle Seahawks winning the Super Bowl!!
He was always up for trying out a new Chinese restaurant or going to have a prime rib dinner.
He is survived by his wife, 2 sons – Ivan & Calvin and daughter - Susanna.
We will miss him greatly.
