August 15, 1922 - May 25, 2012
John S. Longo has moved on to be with his beloved wife Katie who preceded him in
death on June 7, 2004. May they find eternal happiness in the hereafter.
John left a legacy of love and courage to those remaining. As you may expect, his
definition of family is broad, encompassing both relations and friends made over a
lifetime. His immediate family including his daughters, Linda and Lori, their husbands,
Bill and Fred and his grand children Shannon, Craig and Taylor, Megan and Jake as well
as his great-grandchildren Colton, Denton, Jensen and Audrey survive him.
A decorated Veteran of World War II, John served as a Sergeant in the 6th Utility 91st Air
Engineers division of the United Stated Army. Proud of his service to his country, it is
fitting John be remembered each year as he passed on Memorial Day weekend.
John was born in Brooklyn, New York and lived with Kay in New York and Philadelphia
area while raising their family. John and Kay retired to Fripp Island, SC. There, they
enjoyed twenty years of wonderful friendships, golf and visits from the family. John
resided for the last seven years in Mukilteo, Washington with his daughter Lori and her
family.
Deeply loved, John will be remembered for the courage he imparted to others and his
belief that each of us was capable of moving our own mountain! His deep convictions,
keen mind, quick wit and ready smile remained vibrant till the end of his life.
