
Jack passed away peacefully in his sleep on January 28, 2002, just 29 days after celebrating his 100th birthday at his home in Edmonds. He was born in Canaan, NH, December 30, 1901. His family moved West via New York, Chicago and Colorado, settling in Edmonds in the early 1920?s. His father, Rev. Charles Preston, a Methodist Minister, helped in establishing Hughes Memorial Church in Edmonds. Jack owned restaurants in Seattle before moving to Snoqualmie Pass and with his wife Wilma and family operated the original Snoqualmie Summit Inn and built the well known Rock Chalet and Museum. They sold the Summit property in 1987 and retired to the Edmonds area when he was 86. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Wilma; daughter, Victoria Michael Irving of Edmonds; sons, Steven Linda of Longbranch WA, Jack of Seattle and Hugh Grace of Edmonds; grandchildren, Anthony, Kendall, Jenna and Christopher; brother, Ellis of Winthrop and numerous other relatives and friends.
