Joseph Clarence Rupp Jr. was born to Joseph and Myrtle Rupp on August 13, 1934. Joe had a brother and two sisters, John, Barbara and Darlene. Joseph graduated high school in 1952 all the while working side by side with his father in the meat market. He entered college at Portland State University with hopes of graduating with a bachelor's degree in political science with his dream of being an FBI Agent. Unfortunately for Joe, but fortunately for the rest of us his dreams were cut short when he had to drop out of college to go to work for his father full-time because with Joe, family was always first. Unless of course it was hunting season!
Joseph joined the Air National Guard in 1954 as an Air Policeman and received an honorable discharge in 1960 and then spent two years in the Air Force Reserves.
Joseph met his wife Delores and on August 29, 1959 they were married. Dee brought a ready made family with her son Donny. Joe and Dee moved to Seattle and Joe worked for Safeway from the Ballard store to Queen Anne he ran his meat department as a family. They bought a house in the Northgate area and settled in to raise their family. Daughter, Diane was born in 1967 and along came Kristina in 1970. As time passed the house on NE 94th was always bustling with most family members having lived or stayed there at some point in time. Family gatherings were a common occurrence and the house was filled with love, laughter and poker parties. The family grew when Don married into a ready made family and Cassandra became Joe's first grandchild. Then along came Heather, Diane gave birth to Jason, Kriss gave birth to Aaron and then Felicia. Joe's life changed in 1993 when he lost Delores. Joseph found love and happiness again with Veronica and together they helped raise each other's grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The house on 94th was sold in 2000 and Joe and Babe moved to Lynnwood and eventually to Everett. Joe and Babe had many adventures together from casinos all over to day trips and weekend getaways just because they could. Always there for each other they helped each other through many difficult loses of family and friends. Veronica was there for Joe and loved and supported him up until the end.
On Thanksgiving we lost a truly great man with a wicked sense of humor. He impacted many lives, he was loved by so many and will be missed by all. A giving husband and partner, a father, a grandfather, a brother, son and Uncle the world will be a darker place without you, May you rest in peace. Preceded in death by his father Joseph, mother Myrtle, sister Barbara, wife Delores, son Donald and survived by his partner Veronica, his daughter's Kristina Rupp and Diane and Matt Thompson. Grandchildren, Cassandra, Heather, Jason, Aaron, Felicia, Jessica and Casey. Great grandchildren, Brian, Hailee, Caleb, Natilee and Alyssa.
