It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of Joshua David Chittle, who left us far too soon on August 26th, 2025, at the age of 34.
Beloved son of Leesa (née Ogg) and the late Michael Chittle. Cherished grandson of Joy and David Ogg, and the late Leonard and Arseline Chittle. Dearest brother of Michael Jr., Zachary (Amanda), Robyn (Michael) Lapuz, Nicholas (Yula) and Benjamin. Loving uncle to Olive, Sam, Reese, Aria and Kai. Proud billet dad to Adrian Dixson, dedicated teammate, and caring friend to many. Close friend to Bec Powell, who has shown incredible compassion and empathy during this difficult time. Devoted dog dad to his beloved Nova, his baby. Josh loved Nova and Bec as his own family. He taught Bec to be a dog mom, and Nova taught Orca how to be a dog.
Josh loved his family and friends deeply and intensely — it was his greatest desire to see them happy, healthy, and cared for. His favorite title was “Uncle”, and he was unbelievably proud to be a brother. His mother was the light of his life, and despite the miles between them, they shared a very close bond that was unbreakable.
Growing up, Josh developed into an avid video gamer, bonding with his siblings and father over a shared love of video games — especially those by Blizzard. Many summers and late nights were spent playing Starcraft, Warcraft, and Diablo. Beyond gaming, Josh found joy in computers and technology, painting minifigures, cooking and baking, and curating collections inspired by the things he loved — from video games to hockey and more. Whether he was hand-shaping noodles for homemade pasta or building powerful data-mining computers, his creativity and curiosity knew no bounds.
Josh was hardworking, passionate, and deeply committed to everything he pursued. After completing a degree in Computer Science, he left his hometown of Windsor, Ontario, and moved to Seattle, Washington, where he began his career with Amazon. His brilliance was both kind and expansive, leading him to innovate at world-class companies including Google and Coinbase. Despite these achievements, he carried himself with humility, never allowing his intelligence to make others feel small. Josh always held a deep appreciation for the opportunities he was given and the life he was able to create for himself.
Later in life, Josh discovered his passion for hockey — a surprising shift from his childhood years. He embraced the sport wholeheartedly, loved skating, and spared no expense in his pursuit of improvement on the ice. Playing several times a week on multiple teams, he treasured the camaraderie of his teammates, and took pride in how quickly his dedication and hard work paid off.
Josh’s character was truly unmatched. Quick-witted, warm, and full of humour, he had a natural gift for making everyone feel welcome. Generous with both his spirit and time, he supported youth hockey, philanthropic causes, and the people in his life. More than anything, he wanted those around him to feel safe, valued, and included. His hearty laugh could fill the whole house, and his contagious smile left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
Josh’s love, kindness, and light will shine on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who were lucky enough to have known him.
