
JOY ALVEDA MILLER went Home to her Lord the evening of October 22,2009, at Aegis of Northgate. She was born August 3, 1908, in Browns County, Kansas, and has been a resident of Seattle for over 70 years. She spent her childhood (early years) in Fresno, California, and later in Tacoma, and then, in Wenatcchee, Washington. She worked most of her adult life in the food services, and retired in 1973, from Group Health Hospital where she was "Special Diets Chef." Alveda was preceded in death by her parents Harvey E, and Anna B. Miller, her brothers Ellis (Mabel) Miller, Harold Miller & Delbert Miller & her sister Mary (Virgil) Shields. She is survived by her sister Erlene (Dan) Reiman and sister-in-law Virginia Miller, her cousins, who were like daughters to her: Grace Roop, Madeleine R. Smith & Barbara L. Hicks. And, also, 8 nieces & nephews: Marilyn Reiman, Carol R. Mentzos, Ann Miller-Bowers & Linda Shields Wieland, and Donald E. Miller, Roger Miller, Larry Reiman & Lyle Miller, and numerous great-nieces & nephews. Alveda was an avid needle-worker and had knitted countless caps & sox for the homeless, as well as crocheted many items for family & friends, from sweaters to baby booties & pot holders. Alveda was a long-time Christian and member of Tabernacle Baptist Church, from its move from Capital Hill to North Seattle. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Group Health Hospice, or Tabernacle Baptist Church
