In Loving Memory
Judith Gayle Cole, age 72
Passed away on Tuesday, January 17, 2012. She is survived by her sons
Andrew, Christian and Adam Cole as well as many other family and friends.
Judith was born in Waterloo Iowa to Lester and Edna Eldridge. She graduated
from East High in 1957. After High school she moved to Minneapolis. She
went to work as a Stewardess at Eastern Airlines in 1961 and worked there
until she married Frank Cole in 1964. They lived in Watertown Mass,
Waterloo, IA, Evansville Indiana and Enfield CT before settling in the
Weatogue section of Simsbury CT in 1972. All 3 boys graduated from Simsbury
High School.
Judith (who went by Gayle to her friends after High School) and Frank were
married until 1976. They divorced and Gayle went back into the work force.
Gayle never remarried. She worked at Tennis Now and the Bloomfield Racquet
Club as office manager before begining a job at Wiremold in West Hartford CT.
There she rose to be a Sales Manager in the flexible duct division.
Gayle moved to Tampa FL in 1989. She loved Florida, especially the beach.
Her 3 boys spent each Christmas and New Years visiting Tampa and they loved
to go to the Horse Races at Tampa downs. Unfortunately a series of health
problems began while in Florida and Gayle eventually decided to move to the
Pacific Northwest to be closer to her sons and grandchildren.
Shortly after moving to Oregon Gayle developed an infection that led to the
loss of both legs. Her Doctors said she would never walk again but Gayle
defied all odds and learned to walk with prosthetic legs and even walked
down the aisle at Adams wedding and danced
Gayle was a fantastic mother, friend and grandmother who lived to see her 5
grandchildren born and was loved by them all. She spent her last Christmas
in Seattle in 2012 surrounded by her 3 sons and daughters-in-law (Niki, Pam,
and Jen) and 5 grandchildren (Audrey, Avery, Naomi, Grant and Brendon).
Gayle passed away last week living on her own in her apartment overlooking
beautiful Karkeek Park in North Ballard after courageously battling many
health problems over the last few years of life.
She touched many lives and will be dearly missed and remembered by all who
knew her.
