Born in Billings, MT on March 9, 1942, and died in Washington on October 25, 2024 with her husband of 62 years, Don Sleight.
Her marriage to Don was a true partnership. Her husband supported her life as an artist and much of her artistic inspiration came from their skiing, hiking, and travel together as a couple and with their children.
Judy was a dedicated mother. She is survived by her children: Jon Sleight (Sarah), Chris Sleight (Melissa), Debbie Ellis (Lance), eight grandchildren and one great granddaughter as well as her brother Edward Rundle.
Judy was primarily a self-taught artist and author who developed her own unique style of painting in oil: realistic and detailed, capturing the magic of light and shadow. Her artistic legacy mirrors the beauty of the world around her. Her work has been included in collections throughout the U.S., England, Australia and New Zealand.
Judy was humbled by her gift of being able to see beauty everywhere and render it so everyone else could see it too. She dedicated her work to the Lord who “who gave me the talent and has blessed me by allowing me to make a living doing something I love. I strive to thank Him by portraying the beauty and magnificence of His creation.”
She is dearly missed by her family and friends and we all mourn her passing. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org).
