Julie was born to Nicholas and Helena Holychuk in Edmonton, Alberta. She worked for the government in Alberta, then moved to Vancouver BC and met her future husband Bill at a CYO meeting. They married shortly after in June 1944. In 1952 Julie and Bill moved to Seattle with their two children and have lived in West Seattle since. One more daughter came along in 1952. They belonged first to Holy Rosary Parish for 27 years, then Holy Family Parish for 34 years. She was active in the St. Vincent De Paul Foundation at Holy Family as well.
She enjoyed golf, playing cards with friends, gardening, and traveling. She especially loved to read. She has read books since she was a little girl under the covers at night. Crosswords were another love and helped keep her mind sharp throughout her life.
She was preceded in death by her husband Bill in February 2007 and her youngest daughter Julianne in December 2007. She is survived by her daughter Denise (Ron) Ludington, her son Gregory (Paula) Savard; seven grandchildren: Liz (James) Nelson, Andrea (Robert) Doerner, Robert (Stacy) Ludington, Erick (Samantha) Otto, Jessica Otto, Anne (Patrick) Simonovich, and Joshua Savard; eight great-grandchildren: Jaime, Nicholas, Ashley, Brianna, Ryan, Devin, Ethan, and Olivia; and two great-great grandchildren: Kaylynn and London.
