Karen had a wonderful and independent life. She worked at Seattle Pacific University for 30 years, lived for many years in her own apartment with a friend and was active at church. Karen loved sports; she won more than 75 medals in Special Olympics, including a bronze medal in the 50-yard dash at the 1976 International Special Olympics. She was an avid fan of the Mariners, Seahawks, SuperSonics (even after they left town) and Huskies. She was outgoing and made new friends wherever she went. She brought a sparkle with her when she came into a room. Thank you to the many people who shared in helping her experience such a full and rewarding life. Truly a life well lived!
Karen is preceded in death by her mother Eleanor in 2004, and is survived by her father Edward, and three brothers, Arne (Lynn) Gustafson of California, Karl (Joanna) Gustafson of Oregon, and Erik (Colleen) Gustafson of Hawaii.
