Kay Collins Edwards

Kathleen (Kay) Collins Edwards passed into her Savior's arms April 4, 2021. She was born October 15, 1927 to Elmer F. Edwards and Patricia L. Edwards in Seattle, WA. She attended Queen Anne High School and graduated in 1945. She went on to WSU graduating with a BA in Communications in 1949.

Her career path took many turns, working for the Girl Scouts, a secretary at Children's Orthopedic Hospital and for the State Hospital Association. In 1969 Kay opened Kay's Bookmark at University Village and spent almost 30 years helping customers find books to love. Kay was a lifelong learner collecting new skills and creating works of art that included watercolor and oil paintings, pottery making, stained glass, metal working, fine jewelry design and wood working. Along with her dear friends Alice Sandstrom and Rae Azose, Kay supported philanthropic causes primarily assisting women and children in the Seattle area. Kay is survived by her sister Jean (Edwards) Whitaker, and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. She left behind her many works of art, photos of her beloved cats, and memories of her kindness, humor, and unconditional love.
