Keith W. Moody was born in Seattle on 11/20/1953 and passed pm the Eve of Spring; March 19, 2016. He was the third child of Robert W. Moody and Barbara B. Moody, now deceased. He is also predeceased by his older brother Mark L. Moody. He is survived by his sisters Catherine E. Roberts (John W.) and Karen L. Hlinka, both residing in Seattle. He also leaves behind his nephews Brock W. Roberts, Andrej Hlinka and Ryan C. Moody.
Keith was a 1971 graduate of Roosevelt High School and the University of Washington in 1975. Keith entered the university in the Naval ROTC program and graduated as a commissioned officer with a Bachelors' Degree in Business. He was stationed in Norfolk Virginia and served on the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Kennedy in the Mediterranean for several years as a Lt. Jr. Gr. Upon discharge from active duty he remained in the Naval Reserves and enrolled at Old Dominion University in Norfolk from 1980-1984. Keith completed a 4 year course in physical therapy and shortly thereafter relocated back to Seattle Washington. Keith settled in the Ballard area where he purchased a small bungalow. Although Keith never married and had no children he had several cat companions and enjoyed all the neighbor cats as well. He had a friend on every corner and enjoyed his work with the post office as a letter carrier and had retired in recent months.
As a young man Keith enjoyed fishing at Green Lake and in his young adult years belonged to the Cascade Bicycle Club. He participated in and completed several of the Seattle to Portland rides. There were also chapters in Keith's life as an avid swimmer and he enjoyed the challenge of ballroom dancing as well. Most of all Keith loved playing classical piano on his baby grand piano. Although his favorite composer was Mozart , Beethoven pieces were the ones he was most challenged by and continued to perfect up until his final days.
Keith's life was one of sacrifice, love, forgiveness, hope and many triumphs. He was a modest, private individual and preferred to discuss the lives of many friends and passersby rather than any mention of himself. He was lovingly cared for in his final days by his sister Catherine, brother-in-law John and nephew Brock. His was a brave passing as he expressed his wish for others to "live, love and laugh". His gentle spirit will be deeply missed. He truly was a one of a kind.
A donation to Purrfect Pals Cat Rescue in Keith's name would please him deeply.
