He enjoyed spending time with his friends and family and was an enthusiast of fine food. He enjoyed his free time running, water skiing, hunting, snow skiing and fishing, which later in life consisted of primarily hunting and fishing. He always had a love for dogs and found great pleasure in running field trials off of horseback, which culminated when he won three national championships with "Suzy."
