

Kenneth McCormick age 63 passed away unexpectedly on Friday, January 20, 2017. He was born July 24,1953 in Buffalo, NY to Ernest Bates Sr. And Margaret Kimbrough. He was a very, very loving, devoted husband and father, a good humored and respected friend/colleague to many, a relentless and devoted advocate for his members or anyone who needed help, and always willing to give an honest fight for what he believed in. Kenny's loving presence will be terribly missed by all who were fortunate to know him. Kenneth was currently President for Amalgamated Transit Union Local 587. Over the span of his nearly 35 years with King County Metro Transit Kenny was a Transit Operator and First-Line Supervisor in addition to multiple Union officer positions with ATU Local 587 as Recording Secretary, Vice President and President. Kenny was always heavily involved with committees to fight for worker's rights and equality. He also enjoyed baseball, stepping in giving many years coaching, fundraising and helping our sons' teams. Kenneth married Francene Oki on August 24, 1996 in Seattle. They were each other's Love of their Life, best friend, and just Lucky in Love. Together they had one son, Kenneth II (K II). Kenny was so proud of him and always talking about his baseball! Kenny lived life to its fullest. He enjoyed listening to jazz, comedy, date nights, traveling, poker, hanging with friends, BBQing/smoking, chilling at home on movie nights or just doing nothing but talking. Kenneth is preceded in death by daughter, Marika, and is survived by wife, Francene and their children, Kenneth II, Kara (DJ), Jonathan, James (Nicole) Kamille, Michael and Keyonna. in addition to many grandchildren and extended family. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2017 from 2:00p to 4:00p (doors open at 1:00p) at Town Hall Seattle 1119 Eighth Avenue (at Seneca) Seattle, WA 98101
