
Anchorage resident Kent Ivey Hartzberg, 50, died July 26, 2003, at home.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Anchorage Senior Center with the Rev. Jerome Lofgren officiating. Burial will be at Angelus Memorial Park.
Mr. Hartzberg was born Sept. 20, 1952, in Minneapolis and moved to Anchorage with his family in July 1958.
He earned a degree in accounting from the University of Alaska Anchorage and worked for the state gaming department as an accountant. He also owned Hartzberg and Associates and worked with the charities for Lightning Bingo.
Mr. Hartzberg was a member of the Presbyterian Church.
He enjoyed working, watching television and raising dogs.
His family wrote: "Kent was a quiet, generous, friendly person. He loved his dogs and way of life. He had a heart of gold and will be missed by all who knew him. His family will miss his happy smile and easy way of life. He was a friend to everyone; there wasn't anyone he could turn away. He was much loved by his family."
Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Louise and Lennart Augustsson of Anchorage; uncles and their spouses, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Lofgren of Anchorage, Mr. and Mrs. Jerome Lofgren of Poulsbo, Wash., and Mr. and Mrs. Roger Hartzberg of Duluth, Minn.; aunts, Marion Indihar of Joseph, Ore., and Carol Woolsey and Marvel Hartzberg; and many cousins in Alaska, Washington, Oregon and Minnesota.
He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Hartzberg; grandparents, Bill and Anna Lofgren and Mr. and Mrs. Hartzberg Sr.; and many aunts and uncles.
The family suggests that memorial donations be made to the Anchorage Rescue Mission or to Bean's Cafe.
