Beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend & mentor, Kevin Wright passed away unexpectedly on March 4, 2021. Born on May 19, 1954 in Ogden, Utah into an Air Force family, Kevin spent his earliest years living in the Philippines. Upon the divorce of his parents, he moved back stateside with his mother and sister, Micki, to live with extended family in the Midwest, where they eventually settled.
Kevin loved to say that he ‘grew up’ in tiny Sweetser, Indiana—a small town where everyone knew one another. From there the family relocated several times, eventually moving to Ann Arbor, Michigan and finally, in 1970, to Seattle.
A graduate of Roosevelt High School in Seattle, Kevin went on to earn a degree in Economics from the University of Washington. It was there that he met his wife and lifelong sweetheart, Cynthia - They were married in 1978. Their daughter, Elisabeth, was born six years later.
Kevin had many successful vocations prior to his early retirement in 2011. He always insisted however that a career would never define him. It was rather his love and dedication to family that motivated him and encapsulated his life. Kevin worked tirelessly and with unwavering devotion and joy to bring comfort and happiness to his family who he so fiercely loved. He took his role as parent, grandparent, mentor and teacher with honor and joy always seeking to encourage and provide life lessons to his daughter, grandsons and others around him. He truly lived by the ‘golden rule’, was engaging and inclusive to all, freely giving of himself and his resources, expecting nothing in return. A man of strong faith and quiet prayerfulness, Kevin lived his life such that these attributes were naturally demonstrated in his character and actions.
Kevin was predeceased by his daughter, Elisabeth with whom he is now joyfully reunited, and is survived by his wife, Cynthia, his two grandsons, James & David, his sister, Micki, and a loving extended family including several nieces and nephews.
A private family memorial was held on March 24. Suggested remembrances to University Presbyterian Church Youth Ministry or Our Lady of the Lake Catholic School in Seattle.
