Kirkland Price Carlisle passed away unexpectedly on December 20, 2024. He was only 57 years old. His husband and family are deeply saddened by his passing. Kirkland was born on December 2, 1967, in Yakima, Washington and was raised in the nearby communities of Wapato and Zillah. He attended both Wapato and Eisenhower high schools and later went on to obtain his Medical Assistant’s Certificate from Seattle Vocational Institute. Early in his adult life he lived in Phoenix and Yakima. He then moved to Seattle where he met many good friends as well as his future husband, George Aoyama.
Kirk worked at several medical clinics and surgery centers in the Seattle area. In 2011, he started working at George’s company where he was employed until he passed.
Kirk and George enjoyed traveling and experiencing different cultures. Favorite destinations included Singapore, Japan, Mexico, Hawaii. They enjoyed watching baseball and hockey both in person and on TV. Kirk enjoyed reading articles and shopping on the internet, taking care of the cats, listening to a wide variety of music and watching shows on TV.
Family was very important to Kirk, and he enjoyed talking on the phone and spending time with them. He very much looked forward to his weekly conversations with his mother Sue and he took pride in being able to assist his father Herb while he was recovering from medical procedures. He always remembered the birthdays of relatives and friends and sent cards and texted them on their special day.
Kirk and George’s nephew Paul moved in with them while Paul was finishing high school and starting college. Uncle Kirk made sure that Paul had things he needed to live comfortably. He secured furniture, made sure Paul had meals and even shared his automobile. Uncle Kirk was also a kind ear for Paul as he made the transition from teenager to adulthood.
People remember Kirk fondly as a kind soul who had a genuine smile and something nice to say. He was considerate of the feelings of others and always put the importance of relationships ahead of difference in opinion. Kirk particularly enjoyed going out for a meal and attending small gatherings with those that he loved.
Kirkland is survived by his husband George Aoyama, his father Herbert Carlisle, his mother Susan Lommers (Matthew), his brother Landon Lommers (Simona), his brother Aaron Lommers, and his sister Heidi Redfield (Russell).
