

Laura Lowy Hanslip passed away peacefully in her sleep on March 20, 2024 in Seattle, WA. Laura was a beloved wife, an exceptional mother, a doting and proud nana as well as a wonderful sister, aunt and friend.
She was born Laura Renee Lowy on November 23, 1947 in New York City to Alfred Lowy and Marcia Appelbaum Lowy. She attended Ethical Culture Fieldston School in New York City and received a degree in Art History from the University of California at Berkeley. After graduating, she moved back to New York City and pursued a Masters in Art History at Columbia University. Laura loved literature, art, theater, and music. She and her then husband moved to San Francisco, CA where her two daughters were born. After moving to Los Angeles for a couple of years, they moved back to New York and settled in Chappaqua, where she raised her family.
Laura was an active volunteer, serving as president of the Junior League of Northern Westchester, volunteering her time with battered women, starting a tutoring program for underserved youth, among many other endeavors. When her daughters were teenagers, Laura decided to go back to school and obtained an MBA from the University of Connecticut. Shortly thereafter, she began working in the non-profit sector. She married E. Robert Hanslip in 1999 and they resided in Connecticut before moving to West Palm Beach, FL where they lived for almost 20 years. She enjoyed spending time at her Beach Club. Never one to shy away from trying something new, over the years, Laura took up tap dancing, golf, crocheting, needlepointing, croquet and she was an avid bridge player, becoming a Bronze Life Master.
She is survived by her husband E. Robert Hanslip, her daughters Melanie Kosloff and Joanna Adler, her son-in-law David Kosloff, daughter-in-law Adrienne Adler, her sister Jane Yarian, her niece Carolyn Yarian and her grandchildren Maddie Kosloff, Ryan Kosloff, Julia Kosloff and Jack Adler.
