Lee Yu Kook, 92, passed away on June 12, 2018. Lee was born in Toishan, China on September 28, 1925 to George and Suey Lee. She married Seng Kuan in 1947 and moved to Hong Kong where she managed the family business. Seng brought her and daughter Tien in 1956 to Seattle where Shirley and John were born. Lee was a terrific seamstress and cook, and filled our lives with stylish and avant-garde outfits, nutritional and traditional foods, and adventure. She dived into 6-mile hikes and canoe trips, took trips to California by herself, visited China after 35 years, took lapidary classes to make jewelry, and enlivened many family events.
Lee will be missed by all of us. Her constant focus was family and we will always remember her devotion, perseverance, hard work ethic, thrift and love.
She is survived by her children: Tien Cheung, John (Linda), and Shirley (Rob); grandchildren: Elizabeth (Andy), Anthony (Mihoko), Alexander (Venus), Sarah, Robert, Ben, Elaina and Russell; great grandchildren: Spencer, Nolan, Natalie, Keishi and Celine; siblings: Peter (Faith), Betty (John) and sister-in-law Wai Kuen Lee; and many nieces and nephews.
A private family service will be held at Butterworth Funeral Home and burial at Mt Pleasant Cemetery.
