Leo was born in Wu-Hsin, China on October 4, 1935 to Wen Ye-Jiunn and Jiang Chung-Hua. Leo was the second of 6 siblings. The outbreak of the second Sino-Japanese war and subsequently the Communist Revolution became the defining events of Leo’s childhood, where the family was forced to escape the ravages of these historical events, eventually moving to Taiwan in the 1940s. Leo learned enduring lessons of frugality and toughness during these times.
Leo graduated from college with a bachelor’s degree in economics and began working in the travel business when it was glamorous. Leo enjoyed many business trips throughout Asia, Europe, and America. Leo married Agnes F. C. Wen, his college sweetheart, in the early 1960’s.
Leo and Agnes, and their son Chen immigrated to Seattle, Washington in the 1980’s to pursue their own American Dream. Leo worked for OC Trave as their Seattle representative for many years, and eventually worked for the US Postal Service until his retirement.
In retirement Leo enjoyed further international travels with Agnes and Chen. Destinations included: Alaska, Cambodia, China, Germany, Okinawa, Scandinavia, Taiwan, and Vietnam, just to name a few.
Leo was preceded in death by his father and mother, his wife Agnes, his older sister and one younger brother. He is survived by his son Chen, two brothers and a sister, numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
An informal service will be held on Friday, October 14, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. next to the columbarium where his ashes will rest next to his beloved wife Agnes at Evergreen Washelli Cemetery, 11111 Aurora Avenue North, Seattle, Washington, 98133.
