Lew died peacefully at home early Tuesday morning. He was 93. A musician and composer, Lew performed for more than 80 years as a drummer, vocalist, and guitar and banjo player in various bands up and down the west coast. A born showman, Lew loved the spotlight and never met an audience he didn't like. His musical career began in his pre-teen years, playing guitar in his father, Morrie Morrison's orchestra. He later recorded with Bonnie Guitar and spent 22 years in a dance band at Burt Lindgren's 1935-1957. In the 60's and 70's, he played drums, banjo, and sang in a Dixieland trio at Shakey's. In his later years, Morrison was dubbed "the Darling of the Center" when he played senior citizen dances at The Seattle Center well into his 80s . Morrison worked at City Light for 34 years and retired in 1975 as a Senior Consultant. An avid Mariners, Seahawks and Sonics fan, Lew also enjoyed golf, tennis and watching his kids and grandkids play sports and music. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Lorraine; sons, Larry Janet, Steve Nicole, Ken, and Dan Nola; daughters, Jean Dick Nelson, and Kathy Rash; 16 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; sisters-in-laws, Diane Eidem and Barbara Eidem; nephew, Mike Eidem and niece, Sandy Eidem. Services will be held at Evergreen-Washelli Funeral Home, 11111 Aurora Ave. N. at noon on Saturday November 4th. Donations can be made in Lew's memory to Medic One or your favorite charity.
