Lloyd E. Johnson
August 23, 1925 – October 3, 2018
Lloyd Edward Johnson, age 93, of Seattle, passed away Oct 3, 2018. Born Aug 23, 1925 in Sioux City, Iowa, he was 1 of 13 siblings, children of Harry & Edna Johnson, 8 boys, 5 girls. Moved to Seattle, WA in 1940 attended Madrona School, Garfield and West Seattle High.
He volunteered to join the Navy as did his 6 brothers. He served on ships in many combats in the South Pacific; he was awarded the Medal of Honor and 3 Bronze Stars. After serving in the military he served in the Merchant Marines for years. He worked at Boeing; Todd shipyards, truck supervisor of Seattle Electric and a VP of 3 Johnson Construction companies. He married and raised 2 girls and 3 boys.
He will fondly be remembered for his love of family first and always; sports, bowling, golfing, camping and traveling. Lloyd was totally liked by everyone because he was kind and helpful, a storyteller with amazing recall of family history, a true gentleman: good husband and good dad. Lloyd was a member of the Elks BPOE for 33 years and the Eagles FOE for 65 years.
Lloyd was preceded in death by 5 brothers and 2 sisters. He is survived by 2 brothers, 3 sisters, 5 kids, 2 granddaughters, 1 great-granddaughter and many extended family members and friends. He will be greatly missed by all.
There is a Viewing at Yarington’s Funeral Home, 10708 16th Ave SW, Seattle, 98146, on Fri, Oct, 12, 1-4pm.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Burien Elks Lodge, 14006 1st Ave S, Burien, on Sat, Oct 20 at 4pm.
A private Inurnment service will be planned at a later date at Tahoma National Cemetery.
