Doug passed away April 16, 2009 in Seattle. He was born on February 18, 1942 in Ballard, the son of Lloyd and Olga Stevens. Doug graduated from Ballard High School in 1960 and worked for Seattle Parks and Recreation for 27 years. In his youth, he loved cruising the streets of Seattle, and was especially fond of Ballard, where he met his loving wife of 43 years. Doug was devoted to his family and enriched their lives every day with his love, laughter, and generous spirit. After retirement, his greatest pleasures were golfing, Mariner's games, and spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife Jill, daughters Leslie and Natalie (Roberts), son-in-law Brad Roberts, and three grandchildren Stella, Leo, and Isaac. He is also survived by his sister Valerie Gilberts of Seattle. Private graveside services will be held at Evergreen-Washelli in Seattle. A celebration of Doug's life will be held at 1PM Thursday, April 23 at the Golden Gardens Bathhouse in Ballard.
